You can loosen it a bit but that would effect the sound of your snare when hitting it you can barely hear it if you re playing it though so just leave it.

What s the best way to get rid of tom ring a ringing noise after the tom is hit picked up by the tom mics on a recording of a drum kit.
On my mounted toms and floor tom i have this horrible long lasting over ring and i know some drummers like it but i dont how do you make it stop.
The balls bounce on impact allow the drum to resonate freely and then when they fall they kill the ring.
The tom on it s own snare stand might offset the tom a little more from the kik but usually sounds best to me.
