Floor Joist Into Brick Wall

In old brick masonry construction they often pocketed floor joists right into the masonry bearing walls interior and exterior walls.

Ideally they d probably get remortared but i don t have any way to protect the ends from rot. When dealing with fire damage to these buildings would you ever go back with new joists bearing in the existing masonry pockets or would you come up with some other sort of connection. If the joists run perpendicular to the wall an adjustment should not be necessary. Rule and or policy violation.

In my particular application the joists would be supported on one side in the brick joist pockets and on the other side would be attached to a stick framed wall. Any thoughts or suggestions.
